LOS ANGELES, FICTIONAL HILLS — Content creator @BlissfulBrittany posted a 47-minute apology video Sunday after facing backlash for appearing "suspiciously content" during a sponsored trip to a fictional tropical island.
"I want to address the photos from Thursday," Brittany said, eyes glistening with strategically placed tears. "In retrospect, my smile may have given the impression that peace of mind is something regular people can access. That was never my intent."
The controversy began when Brittany posted a photo captioned "Living my best life" without including the required disclaimer: "But also everything is terrible and I cry in the shower like everyone else."
Brand partners including a fictional oat milk company and a meditation app have paused their partnerships pending "a full audit of her authenticity."
Brittany has announced she will spend the next week posting only photos of herself looking thoughtfully at rain.
